That didn't take long. I bet we'll see one in Gangnam soon.

The one in Iteawon always has a line out the door, I expect the same for this one.

Are we going to see 87 threads about how excited everyone is like we did when the Itaewon location opened

Maybe. I hope they put Taco Bells all around Seoul, especially near Jonggak and Seoul Stations, so no one has to overpay for Tex-Mex. How about one at Yongsan Station? Don't forget about Ilsan. Put one at that entrance to La Festa across from McDonalds (a block from Homeplus). Make Taco Bell the first thing they see when they enter La Festa and the last thing they see when they leave for the subway station to go home. Put one at Bupyeong station between McDonalds and Lotte Mart. Taco Bell, it's time to conquer Seoul!

10 years from now we'll (some of us) will be saying "I was here back before there was any Taco Bell; then one opened in Itaewon and foreigners came from far and wide to get that Taco Bell hot sauce." and the newbies will go "Woah, I can't imagine!"

Seriously though. I love Dos Tacos (just up the street from the new Hongdae Taco Bell location), but Taco Bell gives a fountain drink with the set and they have diet soda on tap. Dos Tacos has a great burrito but that tiny bottle of sickly sweet coke with the set just doesn't do it for me.

Itaewon's Taco Bell is a huge success. In fact, it's way too small and often backed up on orders with too many customers standing around waiting and looking for a place to sit down that isn't to be found. I waited 30 minutes yesterday afternoon for a grilled stuffed burrito and sitting down proved difficult, but a 5 minute wait yielded a seat.

It's obviously too small, but a convenient prime location proved to make this experiment successful. After all, Taco Bell failed about 15 years ago here, but today's young want Western style over some sit on the floor traditional restaurant ran by a cranky old lady. A Korean friend told me a few days ago many sheekdangs are struggling now days due to failure to adapt in a changing restaurant market. I expect TB will open more locations where college age people commute and play. I'm noticing many modern fusion food restaurants such as Yumsem opening up recently and appreciate having stuff like that where it comfortable and convenient for single lunch diners, particularly young adults.

Yeah, good point. I think eating alone is something that Koreans never used to do. Whereas I personally would only ever eat Taco Bell while alone (or on a road trip).

If they manage to choose a shop that fits more than 4 people at a time, there won't be any need for lines outside the door.

haha, yeah. a "line out the door" means that perhaps 12 people are in line, with 2 people working registers.

it's not that busy...but yeah they've really limited the amount of business they can do...they gonna have those doors open all the time in winter?
