Hello, I know this question must be asked by quite a number of people, but it seems that the notary publics claim that they are the only people who can authorise a document for outside of the united kingdom but in reading some of the posts from the past it seems they claim it only needs to be signed by a Solicitor.
So the question i guess is can i just go to my solicitor and ask them to sign the back of my letter of confirmation/confirmation of qualifications?
Also the letter is stamped by the university's director to confirm it was achieved with conjunction with the academic board would this count as a notary?
sorry for my ignorance this is my first application and have already been ripped off (50 for a Notary public for CRB) |

Just go to any solicitor and ask them to certify as original a PHOTO COPY of your original diploma. Take your original diploma to their office to show them.
Send that to Milton Keynes for the apostille.
The solicitor shouldn't charge more than 6-7 pounds. |

The Post Office said they certify documents I'm not going to go through the post office but it seemed a possible alternative if the money motivated Solicitors try to over charge me again. |

And the people at Milton Keynes accept that? The last time I went there, they had a list of signatures that they would accept and it wasn't very many. |

I think they hold a small number on their database and if they don't have them they have to phone the solicitor.

2) Appropriate certification:
We can legalise original certificates of UK academic qualifications if:
They have been certified in the UK by a practising UK solicitor or notary public
Or
They have been signed and certified by an official of the British Council
We can legalise photocopies of certificates of UK academic qualifications if:
They have been certified as a true copy of the original in the UK by a practising UK solicitor or notary public
Or
They have been certified as a true copy of the original by an official of a British diplomatic mission (e.g. Consulate, Embassy or High Commission)

Setaro is spot on here..just to take it to a local solicitor and you can get it done for about 5. As for paying 50, well some city boy will charge you that at least and more. Run a research of your local solicitors and I'm sure you will find several that will do it for 5 or 6 quid. Then send it to Milton Keynes. Yes, if the signature is not on their database off course they will need to confirm authenticity. However, this should only take about a week!
Good luck! |
