|
|
| Just been in Seoul for a month in my second year in Korea. My school is well sound and am teaching adults. Actually I wanted some more hours and have thought of private teaching but just figured it wasnt worth the risk. I thought that surely if you do this your maybe not acknowledging to yourself exactly how bad it would be if you got caught. If indeed you enjoy Korea like me, a free apartment, enjoying your job, can save money well anyway, a top social life. The thought of a fine, being sacked and being deported. I just couldnt comprehend how bad that would be so ditched it. what do you think> |

I think you should read some of the other threads that have covered this same thing.
It's ok, though. You gave me an idea for a new thread. |

I WAS teaching them until the woman whose kids I taught called MY SCHOOL to let me know I didn't have to show up yesterday.
Going to have to lay low for awhile, if I do that again at all...
It's for the best, even if I am missing some chance to make more money: I could have sworn she was telling her neighbors about me too as we got on the elevator.
So forget that. Happy to have 2 days back! |

Whenever i do privates I:
Give a false name(does it really matter if they call me my real name)
NEVER tell them where I work. I don't know how many people have been rung up at work by their privates parents
Never tell them where I live.
Never give them any phone number - i just ring them from a phone box if I need to.
If they ask why don't you tell me I just tell them you don't need to know. If you do I won't do it as I don't want to be deported.
It is very difficult to trace someone that way. |

yeah a agree with all this mate and thanks for your reply i appreciate it. but what bothers me is someone just knocking on the door from immigration. i was offered one with a group of kids. so your sat there with a text book and what do you do then? i figured your totally screwed so decided against it |

Do it one on one with a mother that speaks english so she can lie for you. Friends for a long time, just visiting, no, we don't pay him blah blah.
It's worth the risk fiancially, but maybe not in the long term prospect if you want to stay here. |

I don't understand the question, "Are you willing to take responsibility for teaching privates?". I guess the answer is "NO!" but I sure teach them ... |

And I will commend the immigration officials who catch and deport them. Just so we are both happy. |

What I meant was are you really seeing the reality of the situation that if you get gripped you have absolutely no explanation whatsoever and would lose your job in korea, be fined and be deported. That would be SOOOOOOOOOOO bad. |
