I've heard that along with the new Visa regs....you need to work for your primary employer for at least 6 months before adding a seperate part time job.
I'm plan on transferring my VISA to a new employer, however I've had the same Visa for over two years and have worked part time jobs before....do I have to wait it out now for at least 6 months?
Also, I read here:
http://www.koreaherald.com/business/Detail.jsp?newsMLId=20101026000784
that e-2 people can now work corporate teaching gigs and the like....so are we now eligible for those part time gigs as well? Will it be easier to work at two organizations now if we apply for it legally at immigration? |

What new E-2 visa rules, haven't you heard they've been scraped until 2012 or until further notice? I don't have a link b/c Immigration doesn't think it's necessary to post their ever changing E-2 rules on their website. Has anyone found a notice on this yet?
I'm sure E-2 visa holders will continue to be classified as "Independent contractors" or "Free Lancers" for that supposed second half/6 months of the contract. It certainly doesn't sound very "free" or "independent" to me when it would only be allowed for 6 months. For the record the tax office currently counts E-2 visa holders as "Independent contractors/Free Lancers"(much higher tax rate on income earned) when working a permissible second job. However, Immigration does not. |
