Last year my friend showed me a book <stuff white people like> ,a book full of stereotypes of course, but very very fun to read and good for an Asian like me to understand western culture.

I immediately made a blog called stuff korean people like

But only worked on it for several days because I was very busy.

ever since I had it, it has attracted unexpectedly lots of lots of ( no kidding) internet traffic, I am amazed and also feel very uncomfortable because the website is still very very raw.

Now, I have an idea.

Please, if you are a good writer, know Korean culture very well, also are interested in helping me build this website, please contact me, if we finally make a book, you will get money from the copyright.

edit: I mean, I don't just want to make money, building a successful website is always my ambition, the money issue is only part of it.

Koreans have a very distinct set of food, behavior and styles that they're passionate about, so it's a good concept.

You don't have any text yet though. I'll post a more informed opinion when I see a little bit more of its potential.

Not trying to take anything away from you, but I'm sure that someone here posted a link to a similarly themed blog or article before.

BaldTeacher: thanks, I will be looking forward to it.

cj1976: I am sure there are similar posts (Even myself've post a "things that you can only find in Korea" before), but am not sure about blog cuz I did some research before I made mine.

This is most likely for foreigners who havent been in Korea, those who have been here for many years, all the stuffs are quite old school to you I am sure.

http://www.mykoreanmom.com/ is a good read which shows that you can take the ajumma out of Korea, but you can't take Korea out of the ajumma.

Panda doesn't agree.

Fan Death, oh yeah, that's not stuff korean people like, that's stuff FOREIGNERS THINK korean people like...

There is a fundamental difference. superstitions are everywhere, not something their people LIKE.

That's the point. It's a mockery. You'd have to change the name, but the idea is cool.

Korean's like shiny things (see suits, chrome cars, bling jewelry).

They also like name brand clothes, but the name brand must be prominently displayed as that's why it is liked, to show off. So a shirt with a big logo.

And any informational stickers placed on a product ("this way up") shall be left on forever ("hand made" jacket- which I'm sure is BS).

Also any protective wrap (cell phone display panel, steel door plastic, car door cushion) shall be left on forever.

And the crappier the car, the more likely it has a car alarm. But maybe that's off-topic.

It's a good idea Panda. Don't be discouraged by similar sites if you have something unique to offer, there will always be similar sites the internet no matter what you do(hundreds of millions of sites on the net).

Do you have enough content/topic material for a site and a book? It's worth sitting down and doing a content overview.

Also, if you haven't already then you should install Google Analytics on your site and try to determine some stats:

- Where are people coming from? (e.g. Facebook, Google, Yahoo?)
- What is the ratio of spammers to 'normal' people Wink
- How long are people spending on the site (what's the bounce rate).
- What countries are people visiting from (you might be surprised).

I think fan death would qualify, if you're going by the standards set by Christian Landers. Pretty much every Korean I've ever asked about it has believed in it, and that includes New England Prep School/Ivy Leaguers. My high school roommate brought one of those special Korean timer fans with him.
