How does Korea test for Tuberculosis (TB) once in Korea for an E2 Visa? Do they perform a skin test or a chest x-ray?
Thanks |

It wasn't part of my test to have an x-ray which is clearly what you're worried about. |

If you have TB (and judging by your concern over testing, that makes it a possibility) should you really trying to be around kids all day? TB is transmitted quite easily through the air. |

I don't have contagious TB. I actually work with kids in the US and have been cleared to do so. My concern is that I always test positive for TB for the skin test and then get cleared by the chest x-rays. I was curious to see how the Korea would evaluate TB testing. |

My understanding is that many, if not all Koreans are vaccinated for TB in their childhood. This makes them always test PPD positive, so the skin test is not used here. Instead, as you've experienced, they will use a chest x-ray to look for signs of active disease. You should have no problems with that. |

Actually, I think they have done away with that practice and no longer vaccinate the masses. I had a chest X-ray. It showed localized scarring from a lung infection and they were concerned about TB |
