|
|
hey all,
Looking for a swimming pool to get a monthly membership at. Can be just a swimming pool, or a fitness centre/pool combined facility. Thought of using a hotel's pool, but I think I'd need a swipe card to get in and that would just be kinda odd.
Prefer to find something in the Mapo/Gongdeok/Seodaemun or Gwanghwamun Areas (line 5-purple line)!
Know of anything, please help me out
thanks |

As I always say...
Google Maps - over your area, do a search for 수영장.
Then, either call, get a friend to call, or visit the pools yourself. I'd recommend visiting the pools. I checked three before I found one to suit me. My membership is only 34,000 per month, which is sweet.
My pool is great, but it's maybe a little far for you, on Line 5, near Songjeong Station. |

You have two options near Gwanghwamun that I know of.
1st is the community centre near Gyeongbukgung Station (station is a 5 minute walk from Gwanghwamun and another 5-10 to the centre).
Directions:
-Go to Gyeongbukgung Station, Exit 1.
-Walk straight until the road starts curving to the left and has a three way intersection type place. Cross this and continue on the main road.
-You will pass a park with a traditional gate (Sajik park).
-At the first right you can take, take it. You should be walking up a hill.
-Then take the first left up the hill. (You should see a military barracks at the corner on the hill.)
-Continue on for a few minutes and you will see it.
It has a fitness centre (really nice equipment), rock climbing wall, and swimming pool. I believe it was around 45,000 for just the fitness centre and maybe an extra 10,000 for any additional service (pool, climbing wall).
2nd is an elementary school (청운초).
Directions:
-Again go to Gyeongbokgung Station, Exit 3 this time.
-Walk straight about 100m until you get to the bus stop. Take any of these buses 1711, 7016, or 7018 (they are all green buses and come every 5-10 minutes).
-Take the bus, maybe 3-4 stops. (It is two stops after the Tongin Market stop). You will see it on the left. The entrance is on the little street to the left of the school.
Don't know how much this costs but there is also a small fitness centre with a few machines. Only went once with my school and didn't actually swim. |
