We have a day of activities rather than learning for once, and we're told to come up with ideas, so I came here, naturally.

Basically they're all coming for the day rather than 50 minute bursts so there will be a few hundred all at once, and there are ideas floating around like face painting, food making etc.

Anything else imaginative y'all have tried out in the past though?

Cheers

Some ideas I've used in the past:

Scavenger hunt
"Trash fashion" show (students make outfits from trashbags, paper, tin foil etc)
Indoor sports activities, eg kick the ball into the bucket, limbo, who can jump rope the longest.
Modern fairytales - students make up their own fairytale in groups, make costumes and perform.
Guess the number of sweets in the jar
Tombola

sit them on the floor in small groups.
give them all a pile of paper/markers/wipe boards or whatever.
Shout out a spelling.
They write it, hold it up.
Losers disqualified.
winners get prizes.

Its korean style, party fun (and very easy to organise).

This reminds me of an idea I had, actually: the 'File teacher's tax return' game.

Students stand in rows. They each have a straw. At one end of the row there's a big bowl filled with potato chips or some such thing. At the other end, an empty bowl. The first student, the one next to the full bowl, must pick up a potato chip by sucking it up with the straw and then pass it to the next student, who likewise receives it by sucking it up with the straw. The potato chips may only be touched by straws. They pass it on down the line and the last student drops it into the empty bowl. Continue for set amount of time. The team (row) with the most chips transferred wins.

Haha that's a cool idea.

As are the others above, by the way, thanks. I've got them written down, the meeting to talk about it is tomorrow, I'll see which ones the Koreans are happy with.

I wasn't implying anything with my post, by the way. It sounds grand, if I have a box of sweets - One per win. And I could design a grand prize for a 100% score by the end or something...

misunderstanding.

I thought you were saying because tax returns are tedious/boring, the game is too Smile

other ideas (non messy/expensive);

christmas word/sentence sudoko on the board

quiz - make a grid on board 1-10, A- J and if team get a correct answer, they can choose a grid ref. each grid has points or cash (plus and minus numbers). Team with most points/cash wins a prize.

pass the parcel (in smaller teams all at the same time).

similar idea to the potatoe chips/crisps idea, but they must pass a ball/apple/banana with their chin/neck without dropping it. last person must eat it (better with bananas)

if youve got space, musical chairs (again in smaller teams)

egg drop (more of an activity) give them some materials and they must design something to that can drop with an egg in it, 6 ft without breaking it.
