Haven't you heard the acid rain in Korea makes you bald. That is why all the Koreans always have an umbrella and rarely go out with one if it raining. Mean come on it is drizzling and it would take 2 minutes to get damp but bang all the unbrellas are out!

I don't know if I'm losing more hair here or not, but I certainly notice it more because I have to clean the drain on my bathroom floor regularly!

Yeah I have been noticing some more shedding than usual too. It could be the drastic change in my diet, stress of working the bitching hours of a hakwon, the pollution or the magic straight thing I got done after a miscommunication at the salon or of course all of the above! I hope whatever it is it stops soon, I love having thicker than thick hair!

It's called aging. Especially if you're male.

nah ive noticed my hair fall out ALOT more here. that alone is causing me alot of stress.

its definitely not the aging. i'm a 22 year old female.
maybe its the diet- i hardly eat anything at all.

could it be the water here?
I drink a lot of tap water.

it's not the tap water, i drink bottle water and i'm shedding too. most of the foreign girls i've talked to seem to be losing hair here as well. i think guys with short hair don't notice it as much. i think it's due to the pollution and the rain. the water from the shower probably doesn't help either.

I decided not to clear my drain out from all my hair for a few weeks, and after 3, hair had completely blocked it so my bathroom would flood. So I have to clean it up like every two occasions I shower to be acceptable.

Is this something you've noticed since you've been here?

I notice more hair loss when the seasons change. I figured it out when I went home and went from humid here in Korea to dry back home.

Actually mine started just before I got here, so maybe it's simply thinking about Korea that causes it.

Just sayin'.

I love Korea

I've also been losing what seems to be more hair here.

One other teacher I've talked to said that a girl actually got a ultrasound of her head done and the docs concluded that the excess calcium in the water was actually clogging the hair follicles preventing new hair from growing and causing her hair to fall out.

He suggested using bottled water when shampooing and to avoid putting your head under the water faucet.

How true this is and whether it can actually happen is an entirely different issue though. That's just what I've heard.

using bottled water to shower though... that sounds costly and time consuming. although some people might shed more than others, if you're only here for a year or so, i doubt it'll be much of a problem to the majority of people here.

Hmm, any Koreans losing their hair? If it were only that, I'd suspect it'd be temporary. We all lose some hair naturally anyways, but it should regrow. Some people lose their hair anyways. It's happening more and more to younger people probably from our western diet. I don't doubt the calcium theory, but there is probably more to it.

On an unrelated topic, guys, be careful. Going bald, puts most of you in the doghouse with Korean women. Get something done about that. I think you can get prescriptions for propecia which will slow it down. (Koreans also say to eat black bean.)

i don't know, but i've noticed a lot of koreans seem a little thin on top. i definitely did not lose this much hair before i got here. i don't think it's the rain...

i am going to switch back to an American shampoo brand and see what happens. btw, i am female.
