|
|
Anyone on Hanaro notice a big slow down in torrent downloading? I was getting about 3Mb/s and about a month ago it's dropped to about 200Kb/s.
Also Youtube was streaming slow, got that fixed when Hanaro replaced my modem, now youtube is working. Thought that might have been the prob with torrents, but they are still slow. I also thought it might of been some conflicting software causing the problem, so reinstalled Windows, but no change. In utorrent the port is forwarded correctly and all should be okay, my internet speed test showed about 50MB/s so only thing I can think of is Hanaro is throttling torrents. |

You have effectively introduced two changed conditions:
1. A change in modem (which may presumably also handles your routing and switching) may mean a reduction in maximum connections (hence slow torrenting).
2. Reinstalling windows, which may or may not have altered your torrent client's settings
Do you know what the previous / current models numbers? What client are you using? How is your network setup (modem + desktop pc, wifi etc)? |

The Modem was actually introduced after I noticed the torrent slow down. Same with the re installation of Windows. I had the modem replaced to see if that was what was causing the slow down, and the re installation of windows was for the same reason. Also not at home right now so not sure of the modem model #, but I know they looked identical.
I'm also using Utorrent and there is nothing changed in my settings. I have three computers in my house all with the same results, even when I take my router out of the equation, connecting straight from the modem to the computer. |

I did check, but when I ran the test I kept getting some kind of error. Can't remember now what the error was, but it also stated that the ISP might be throttling torrents. I have just never heard of ISP's throttling torrents in Korea so just thought the test didn't run correctly. If the case is they are throttling torrents can anyone recommend the best ISP. Thanks for your help. |

try these torrent tips from lifehacker...might help! for both pc/mac users |
Thanks man did this step
In uTorrent, go back to the preferences and hit up the BitTorrent section in the left sidebar. Under Protocol Encryption, open the dropdown menu labeled Outgoing. You have three options: Disabled, Enabled, and Forced. Try Enabled for awhile, but if you don't see a good speed increase, using the Forced setting might give you better results. Also note the Allow Incoming Legacy Connections checkboxIf you have a specific torrent that doesn't have a lot of people seeding, you might want to check this box temporarily, though I try to keep it unchecked whenever I can. This ensures that any peers you connect to will use encryption and that your ISP will be less likely to throttle you.
So far so good back up to 8-10 MB/s.
So it looks like Hanaro is trottling torrents? May change ISPs none the less for crap like this. |

I downloaded a couple torrents yesterday at 1-2 MB/s on Hanaro, no problems. |
