I have been in Korea for a few months and currently my cell phone bill is too expensive. I am using KT as a carrier and am unsure about the plan that I have since my Korean friend helped me set it up. My last months bill is about 55,000 won. I used my phone for about 2.5 hours in total talk time. Text messages are a reasonable fee. This is unacceptable to me. Ideas about what I should do? My Korean teachers told me that I should ask for a cheaper plan but they didn't know diddly squat about phone plans.
Another questions I have is changing my cell phone. The current one I am using is pretty difficult to use and old. Are there any cell phones that have predictive texting abilities or t9 in English? I am not interested in a fancy smart phone / touch screen. Just a run of the mill type phone that lets me text without taking ~ 2 minutes to input one letter at a time. What should this cost? Where can I get it? Used is preferable if the price is right.
Any ideas are welcomed. Thanks. |

Your Korean teachers are right, go to a KT store and ask them about changing your plan. They will show you a list of plans. |

Without an outstanding contract and handset installments, 55K a month is ridiculous unless you're under the most expensive voice call rate. Get a breakdown of your current plan, item by item, before you switch over to a different plan with features you hardly use yet you have to pay for.
You won't see much of predictive capabilities for English input on phones in Korea. The only model I know with T9 function is LG-LU4500 made by LG and used exclusively on LGU+ network. |
