Hi,

I understand that Epik teachers recieve 4 weeks vacation a year (2 in the summer/winter). Can somebody tell me the actual months in the year these vacations are?

Thanks!

Depends on your school. You'll more than likely have to do two 3 week English camps in your school in both summer and winter. You'll most likely get a bit under two weeks in August and about 2 weeks around January. You'll also get a week off at the end of February which is what they call spring vacation.

Thing is, make sure you get your vacation dates in writing, many teachers here book flights only to be told at the last minute it's not possible from their Korean masters.

Have a read about some tips working in Korea for EPIK.

Contract says 10 working days in the winter and 8 working days in the summer. If you re-sign then you get 2 weeks (14 calendar days) at the end of the contract. My wife and I are lucky our schools are not the kind to say, "I'm sorry those dates are impossible". Each school is different so it depends.

Usually winter break begins the last week of December and goes until the first week of Feb. Then we got back to school for week and a few days then get out again for another 2 weeks. During this vacation expect to have camps or desk warming but you might get lucky and get that unofficial vacation time.

Summer break is usually shorter and they really like camps and stuff. End of July until the last week of August. In Gyeongbuk they were offering fall contract people an extra week of vacation if they forewent their re-signing until winter.

I'm leaving for a month to do the Cert TESOL in Spain. I had to practically beg to get the time off!

I usually take mine at the end of summer and winter camp. I would hate to have to come back and do those.
