| I did the AT back in 2004. You're making a big mistake by trying to find a partner before you go. There will be a gazillion people on the trail, if you start on say, March 1, or April 1. Just meet everyone and you'll end up hiking/staying with the people you actually like and are compatible with instead of some random internet person who you might loathe but then feel forced to hike with. |

| what jib said (AT 1996). Happy Trails; it's about the journey, not the destination; hike your own hike, etc. |
