I apologize if this has already been discussed. If it has, could someone point me in the right direction?
I am currently teaching in the States. My contract is not done until May but I would like to teach in Korea ASAP. I do not wish to break my contract...I have too many students who depend on me and breaking a contract is not my style.
I have talked to a couple of people from two private schools and they seemed to think that they could work out something for me to replace someone who will need to leave around that time. I'm actually more interested in working in public schools but I haven't talked to the recruiter yet.
I'm wondering if this contract in the States means that I wont be able to find work in South Korea before Feb. or March 2012. Is it possible to find teaching jobs there starting in June/July/August? I know that here it is pretty common to see job openings for second semester.
Anyone know anything about this or have a similar situation? |

Hiya,
You probably don't want to break your contract, as public schools in Korea and your recruiters will be asking for references from your current/most recent job..
Not sure about private, but public schools do a massive hiring bi-annually-
in August and March, so you're in luck!
Most likely, you won't see public schools hiring for June or July unless someone broke their contract and the school specifically is hiring. (as opposed to SMOE, EPIK, or GEPIK)
Just talk to a recruiter.. I went with Korvia, and they only work for public schools, and are pretty good. You'll see postings on this site for August hires later on in 2011, after March (when the new NSETs get to Korea). |
