This is the second time that I've had a package rummaged through and picked clean by customs. The first time, it was fudge and lollies that they stole, and the rest of the stuff was sent on. I didn't care much, because it was only snacky stuff and I get it that food shouldn't be sent.

This time, I had someone send me a package of stuff for my rats. 2 carrying bags, a really cool toy, and a new water bottle. I just got the box, and it had clearly been opened and taped up messily. All that remained were the two bags. Why the **** did they feel the need to steal a rat/ferret toy and water bottle? It's not like they were expensive items, nor were they prohibited.

What is WRONG with people?

In almost 14 years this has never happened to me. EVER!
What does the sender put on the customs forms? My mom and sister write "Christmas gift" or "birthday gift" or "clothes". Never a problem.

I just got an email from him, and it turns out they stole:
1 hot water bottle shaped like a penguin (a gift for me)
some rat toys
a rat finger massager

I'm sad Sad

wtf do you need a rat finger massager for, other than for massaging rats' fingers... in which case, wtf do you need to massage a rats' fingers for?

It grooms their fur. It's like a little hairbrush but gentle, and fits on your finger tip. It was a gift from a loved one. The aholes at customs didn't steal the most important part of the gift, if there's a silver lining.

I got two of the riding pouches from this site:

One of my 2 little dudes is very timid, and he's feeling safe and secure in the bag on my lap as I type this. He's even venturing out to say hi every once in a while.

Still, seriously? Someone stole wooden rat toys and a penguin-shaped hot water bottle?

That is strange, perhaps its your local postman doing the stealing. Maybe you could have somebody send you some joke candy that has doused in paprika, or contains lots of laxatives?

Many moons ago (and don't forget the The Moon Is A Harsh Mistress), I had a box of salt and vinegar chips sent to me from South Africa, because, if you don't like salt and vinegar chips, you don't like life (or salt and vinegar chips obviously).

Anyway, customs had opened the box and crushed the chips, leaving crumbs in the bags of chips as opposed to solid chips. Which was fine by me, just made it easier to pour it into my mouth for maximum salt 'n vinegar flavor action upon tongue of the me.

I'm glad they left the 2 pouches, as they were the most important part of the parcel, but I'm really annoyed. He spent a lot on expedited shipping, and it wasn't a light parcel until they robbed me.

These were my Christmas gifts. Some ahole is probably enjoying my penguin-shaped hot water bottle, not knowing any of the backstory to why I'd want a penguin-shaped hot water bottle. I hope it's defective, and he or she burns his or her junk.

A few years ago I had a bag of salt and vinegar chips go missing from a package. They did leave a few crumbs at the bottom of my box though.

It won't allow me to post, but thank you kindly. I'm going to have my friend call tomorrow when she comes over for dinner.

Rumour is that Fedex packages have an easier time at customs than USPS, DHL or regular post.

In 06 my mom sent me a package with 2 blazers and a Christmas card.

I got the card that was originally inserted inside the box without stampage, but not the box and the blazers. The Christmas card had my address on it, but it wasn't my mom's handwriting.

We couldn't figure out which side of the Pacific the box was opened and jackets taken.
