If you're going to hate on me in this thread, I don't care. Knock yourself out. I'm looking for real help though.

I have always struggled with my weight. Since I was a kid I've always been heavy and big. After high school, it really started to pile on. It was my own fault. Total lack of exercise and poor diet.

After university, I came to Korea and was still a bigger guy. It didn't used to bother me until it really sank in how small and fit Koreans are. Going clothes shopping is really enough to bring one's self esteem to basement level. Most places don't have my size and when they did, it was unholy expensive. I ended up wearing the same things over and over again.

Then I got serious, I put in my best effort for about a year and saw dramatic results. I think I dropped somewhere around 30 or 35 pounds (15kg.) I was really proud of myself. I had a whole new level of confidence. Then I kicked into overdrive the next 8 months and became a daily runner and always found time to keep active doing some sport or workout. Things were going great. I watched what I ate and stayed active and it just kept coming off. I could even cheat a day or so a week with a pizza or McD's and still be okay.

Once it got cold this winter I though, "Well, I deserve a break." I thought I could take some time away from the running and workouts and just relax. I was already stressed about some other things, so I thought this would be the perfect time to take some time to myself and let lose. I didn't go out and start eating junk right away. I kept my diet mostly the same and ate sensibly. Just two weeks into my rest period, I'm ballooning out again. Clothes I just got weeks ago, now don't fit. I almost broke down in tears to see the year and half of effort washed away after two weeks.

2 weeks!! No!! How could this happen so quickly??!

Now it's freezing cold, I think I'm getting the flu, and I've already put back on a solid 10 pounds. In 2 weeks people.

That's it. I'm taking care of this once and for all. I talked to a cosmetic surgery guy before I started working out to see what he could do. To get the lipo done where I want it is going to be about 6MKW. That's a lot. I don't have that much. Nowhere near that much. But I know back home, if you've been at your job awhile and have good credit, you can get a loan to get the work done, the gradually pay it back (with interest of course.) Is that an option here?

I'm sure a bank isn't going to give a foreigner a loan for "undisclosed reasons" so if this is a possible route, it will have to be by a loan office that specializes in surgery loans.

Any advice? Any help? If you're not comfortable responding on the thread, PM me.

My friend had her breasts done, it came to 7 million won. She went to a consultant and then a cosmetic surgeon. She was able to pay in installments. If you are interested I can ask for the name of the consultant and PM you with details. She is also interested in getting some lipo, but was told by the consultant that she should do it in the US, because Korean surgeons don't perform lipo that often so it is not an area that they are excel in.

Right now about 195lbs. I had gotten down to about 180lbs, but most days I held steady at 185lbs. But it's not like it's spread out all over my body. My legs are toned and ripped actually. My upper chest, shoulders, arms and face are trim. If you blacked out the middle of my body, you'd think I was a very fit guy. But I'm carrying all 25 or 30 extra pounds around my midsection and lower chest and middle back. I had my health check recently and when the doctor saw my love handles his remark was "whoa." Since I'm only carrying it in a "spot" so to speak, I think lipo would work better than having to run a 5k everyday for the rest of my life and never look at a carb again.

Please PM me. I'm sure there is at least one lipo specialist out here somewhere. Even if that isn't the case, I would still want the loan and pop down to Thailand on a long weekend, tack on a few sick days, to get it done.

Not meaning to have a go at you or anything, but if you're not managing to keep up with your fitness/diet regime, won't this weight just go straight back on? Unless you're under 5'10 I'd say 190lbs is hardly overweight anyway.

If you've lost weight once, you can do it again. I speak from experience. At one point in my life I weighed 250lbs and I'm 5'10. From that point I got down to 188 in a year. A few years later I ballooned to 209 again. Then I really got serious and began the Body for Life program while in Korea and got down to 160 in a year. Now? I'm probably up to 185lbs and I also feel a bit depressed, like I've let myself go. But you know what? I'm starting again to eat healthy and I can already see some good results depsite not even exercising much after a few weeks. For me the biggest part has been cutting out alcohol.

You'll be surprised at your results once you change your eating habits again. Your flu will pass. Most people gain weight in the winter anyways. You are not that overweight. Join a gym. Even at 100,000W a month, that's much better than taking out a loan for lypo. It's true you'll have to work for it, you already know that. You will have that much more pride because you did it yourself though. I strongly recommend reading the Body for Life book by Bill Phillips. It has been worth its weight in gold for me.

I know I can do it on my own. I've seen it happen. But that year and 8 months just got blown to hell in 2 weeks. I like being healthy, but I don't want that kind of life where I can never take a break from exercising and never take it easy on the diet for a while. Who would? It's like I work my arse off for amazing results and then when I took just a minimum amount of time to rest, bam, the results were gone. That's terrible.

And it will probably continue to be that way for the rest of my life. Up and down, up and down. Until I get those fat cells sucked out for good. It's not like others have said, it can't all come back. You only have a certain amount of fat cells. They can suck out the ones that are overgrown and big, and leave the smaller ones. And yes, later, if you don't take care of yourself, those smaller ones can get large and you can gain weight. But you'll never be as big as before because you have fewer cells than before.

This is not necessarly true, you will make new fat cells if you eat and don't use up that energy. While lipo will be fine in the short term, if you not watching what your eating and not exercising you will put the weight back on. It horrible but some people will always struggle with weight and there are people who just cannot affort to take breaks in their routine. I've worked in gyms for years and have seen this alot.

It's better to try get back on track with your eating and exercise, get the pounds off, you know you can as you've done it before. Congrats on the weight loss, don't let this bump in the road get you down, it happens to everyone. Just be conscious that you can't eat the same as you normally would when exercising, this the biggest mistake people make when taking a break from exercising.

If you really want to get weight surgery, I would recommend gastric bypass surgery instead of liposuction. If you can gain 10 pounds in 2 weeks you'll probably jump back to your current weight in no time. Unless you plan on having liposuction once a year, this is not going to give any lasting results. However, I read that you are only 195 pounds. I think that's way too little for gastric bypass.

You probably already know this, but taking a loan to get liposuction sounds like a horrible, horrible idea, but I'm not here to preach. 195 pounds isn't that much. Try to get used to eating less. I got ill for 2 weeks earlier this year and could hardly eat at all. Afterwards it seems like I have become used to eating less, and I feel full after a small meal or just a cup of coffee. If I had any weight problems I would just drink more coffee because a cup feels like half a meal for me. Black coffee with no sugar of course.

OP, you seem to have some misconceptions about lipo. You were correct in stating that once the fat cells are removed they can't return. But, that doesn't mean that your remaining fat cells can't expand to make up for it. The body adapts and the effect will be the same as if you never had lipo. First, the fat will go to the areas you haven't had lipo. Once that quota has been filled it will go to the areas that have been lipoed.

I would recommend you lose the weight first. Then do lipo if you still have a few stubborn areas. It works great for things like man boobs or love handles. If you get lipo done everywhere, it will be extremely painful, it won't work long term, and it will be too expensive. There is no easy quick fix that will work long term. Stop eating junk food and exercise, it's pretty simple.

agree with losing the weight first.

You say you look pretty fit except around the midsection.
You're going to want to be at your ideal fitness level before you start liposuction. Don't do the "whoa, it's back--time to suck it out."

I'm surprised that it costs that much. I wonder if you could combine your next holiday in Southeast Asia with some medical tourism and save a few bucks.

I'm getting older now so I'm thinking about a facelift myself to keep me in there with the cuties too. Where did you get the quote for that price?
