Anyone out there have some updated info for Canadians regarding this E-2 mess? I just phoned immigration and the agent had such heavily accented English that I could hardly understand her! I really tried to understand her, but just had to give up.

The only bit I did catch was that I have to send my diploma to the Korean consulate/embassy in Canada to get in verified. Is this needed? I thought it was only necessary when changing jobs. As the title says, I'm signing with the same employer, so no change of workplace. Don't know about anyone else, but I don't trust my diploma in the hands of the Korean bureaucracy! Plus the cost of courier there and back. And no, I don't have family/friend living close to a consulate who could get it done for me.

Then there's the issue of CRC. An RCMP check has been sent off. Am just waiting for the doc back. What happens if it doesn't arrive in time? (it was sent off mid-Oct.) anyone got the scoop on actual turnaround times? Can get a check done fast by my local police and it searces the national database. The requirements just say a national search. They don't make a distinction between a national search and a national issuing agency. Of course the RCMP check is preferred, but when it comes down to the wire.....

I'm going nuts with this, and my school wasn't even aware of any E-2 changes, so they are zero help! Anyone with advice/insight? I know I'm not the only one bitching and moaning about this. Answers would be much appreciated!!

There are a couple of "IFs"

IF you previously submitted an RCMP (or other national) check (with K-consulate certification) then you will NOT be required to submit a new one.
If you did NOT submit one then you need the new one.
***********************
IF you used a copy of your degree with a K-consulate certification you do NOT need to resubmit it.

If you used the original you will need to get a copy legalized (from the consulate (in the region where your uni was) in Canada and resubmit it.
***********************

Other than that you need the standard renewal documents:

new contract (with end date clearly shown)
passport
ARC
letter of sponsorship from the school
copy of the school's business registration
application
fee (30k won)
