|
|
| I just got my E1 visa issuance number and i have some questions. Once I have an E1 stamped in my passport, and I want to transfer to another university, do I get to keep the E1 or will it go back to being an E2. Is there an advantage in having the E1 other than not needing the FBI checks etc |

The visa class is determined by the job description.
IF you leave your university and transfer to another position NOT at a university you will lose the E1.
If you transfer to another university AND your job description is NOT "teacher of other languages" then you will keep your E1.
IF your job description is "teacher of other languages" then you revert to E2 and would have to make a visa run to change your status (not just a simple transfer).

Having taught in many Korean universities for many many years, and having had both E-1's and E-2's the most simple rule is this:
New University = New Visa and, you never know what it will be until the last second. |
