I thought there was supposed to be one each semester, but this semester is drawing to a close and my co-teacher doesn't seem to think there is one coming up. Is that possible? I am in my second year at SMOE, if that matters at all.

I just don't want to be surprised with one of those "oh yeah, you have an open class tomorrow morning" type of deals. Anybody know?

Most open classes are already getting done. You need to press them to find out.

things might be different in smoe but open classes are mostly about your Korean coteachers, which is why they often get so frazzled about them.

they're supposed to do one every 3 years or so.

I'd check with ALL of your English coteachers. One of them probably has one scheduled and they most assuredly know when it is.

What contract date are you on? March or September?

The March hires are currently doing their open classes for renewals with the interviews next month.

If you are on the September contract, you will probably have one next semester.

I would re-check regardless though.

I had the same exact situation a couple of weeks back and learned a few others had it worse - they found out about their open classes that morning.
