Looking to purchase a portable cassette player/walkman.
I have seen relatively new looking ones on the subway, but didn't
quite have the opportunity (nor the language skills) to ask the owners
where they purchased them. I know they're still somewhat
in use and for sale in South Korea, I am just not sure where to purchase
one.
Has anyone seen them for sale in a spot that wasn't Yongsan?
Price, brand name, features not that important, just looking
to track one down for a gift. |

Why not Yongsan? Your best chance of finding one is there.
I've seen them both there and at Technomart, although they are way overpriced for obsolete technology. The stubborn salesmen would rather not sell things than sell them at a loss (even though not selling them at all is a bigger loss) which is why you'll see ancient walkmans, discmans and 264MB mp3 players still on display. |

| Maybe it's not just Korean salesmen. A quick search came up with walkmans being sold online for $180! wtf!? then again there's another being sold for $4... |

Yongsan isn't particularly close. I work 1:30 until 8:30 and live in Sinchang, so Cheonan, Pyongtaek, Asan aren't out of the question, but Yongsan is.
Just wondering if anyone has seen them at Hi Mart, Lotte Mart or any other store like that.
Thanks |

| At those dollar-store type places I've seen Chinese ones for 25,000. |

Anyway, if you're really interested in finding a cheap one, check out the Dongmyo second-hand flea market/area. There are quite a few guys with CD players, cassette players, old school Nintendo Gameboys, etc.
You might even find some old turquoise t-shirts to tuck into your ridiculously tight jeans before you put on your lumberjack shirt. |

Hey, at least I peppered my jabs with some very helpful info.
Head out exit 4 and keep an eye out for street stalls...also, after a bit you'll hit exit 3 and if you turn right there you'll find all sorts of goodies. It's a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon. |

It was much appreciated.
Now if you could only tell me where I could purchase some horn-rimmed
spectacles and a wolf sweat shirt. |
