Hi everyone, I'm new to Dave's and I've been absorbing everyone's advice on the forum for about a month and interviewing with different schools as well. I've got my B.A. in TESOL and a little bit of teaching experience and I think this looks pretty good, but I'd like your opinions. The basics of this contract for Poly Bundang (yes i know it's a higher work load)

2.5 million
single furnished studio
prepaid airfare
10 days of vacay plus holidays.
-all the other stuff, health ins. etc.

I've spoken with 4 teachers at the school and they all say it's a lot of work, but the school and students are great and the staff is really supportive, so... a couple more interviews tonight and then I'll make a decision. What do you guys think? Should I go for it?

Depends what you are in Korea for???
If here for the money take the job. If not i wouldn't personally but depends what the apartment is like and how many hours you are working. If I had to work from say 8 till 6 everyday for that money i wouldn't take it.

If the other teachers are saying its a good school, that is a major plus. The hours aren't horrendous and the basic stuff sounds good. I would personally give it serious thought, depending on how your other interviews go. Smile

Excuse me for interjecting, but how about 9-7 at 2.4 to 2.5? Is that ok? That is what one place is offering me.

1-9 no way.....that is retarded! I had to work 3-10, and by the time you finish work your tired, go home relax, or drink...wake up late the next day.... no time for yourself..... seriously stay away from late night contracts.

find a 3-8
or a 10-5

id hold out until that.

It's a lot of work, but the starting pay is much higher than average. Sounds like a good offer for the pay.

Osangrl,

Thats what his job basically will be after a couple of months.
He said the first two hours of the day are for prepping.
That amount of time will decrease has he gets familiar with the material.
Also, for a first job, the salary is quite acceptable even if the hours could be long at times.
Lets not forget that the other teachers that work there told him the place was a good school to work at and that.
It sounds like a good first job.

What two hours of doing hardly any work and getting paid for it. I'd take it. Be able to plan the lessons better and they would be more fun for me.

How long is each class. Believe me there's a big difference between 40 and 50 or 55 minutes.
