Many posters on here have said Korea is a hard place to live so I was just wondering what exactly is meant by that. Language barrier etc

You didn't get enough answers on this in your "Lonliness and homesickness as a single female expat in sk" thread?

What else specifically do you want to know?

It's partly the language barrier and partly the culture. Koreans perceive and do almost everything differently than we do. That's why it's hard to live in Korea. And an ESL salary doesn't buy very comfortable living in the SK economy these days either....
