I stayed up until nearly 1am watching the outcome of the Fifa vote last night. I'm English so I was disappointed but I thought we'd already shot ourselves in both feet long before with the Panorama investigation.
To be honest, it would also be nigh on impossible to get tickets for games in England.
Still, I was happy that it went to Russia, sure we're long overdue a World Cup but they've never had one. I was kind of hoping the 2022 went to Australia (gives me an excuse to visit) but it will be interesting to see what Qatar does with it. I think Fifa's "legacy" requirement in the bidding criteria is a good idea for kick-starting football in those kinds of regions.
Anyone else have any thoughts? |

Absolutely. Exposing the corruption of a crooked organisation whose votes you need is not wise.
As far as FIFA bigwigs are concerned, Russia and Qatar present much greater opportunities for payoffs and kickbacks than straight-laced England. |

The biggest joke is that Qatar won the bid for 2022 WC. |
