You might try this out on an upper-level conversation class -- sure got my group going this afternoon ..
A panel of judges chose this sculpture to occupy the long-empty statue base in Trafalgar Square in London.

I distributed the pictures first without explanation to get initial responses & they were all over the map. The figure pushes quite a few Korean buttons (not just Korean for that matter). Then I passed around the article, which took it from the abstract to the uncomfortably real, including quotes from the woman who posed. Much moral confusion & heated debate! Shook up some mindsets.
Brilliant piece of work in my opinion. |
