EPIK has extended its application deadline for next year due to an unexpected demand from schools. I think this is also true for the privates.

Keep trying for the jobs. I am pretty sure you will get one if you're pretty decent looking. You know how they are.

Good news for people who posted that the job search has gotten harder in recent years.

Well it's good news that EPIK extended the deadline due to a surge in demand. I got an email from a recruiter saying they still wanted applicants since the surge of documentation required by Korean immigration meant a lot more incomplete applications.

I bet this is actually the main reason they are extending the deadline rather than a 'surge in demand'.

Too bad there's not a government program or other centralized program catering to the business types dealing with teaching adults only during the business day in company or government offices. Blah, no more misbehaving refusing to listen kids for me and definitely no 6am to 11pm split shifts. Wink

I'm a bit warped I suppose or perhaps its the fact I'm working on a Journalism BA but I want to go to South Korea even more because of the attack.

I don't graduate until after April, I hope there's still demand for teachers when I apply in the summer.

Its because the recovery has begun. Unemployment is falling (in Europe at least).

Demand for good teachers has always been there.

The supply of bad teachers who think they are good is huge.

Although split shifts are usually associated with kindy hogwons, they're relatively common for in-company teaching as well. I've never worked such horrible split shifts teaching at a non-ELT company as I've seen people do at kiddy hogwons, but it's common to do an 8-9am class, a 12-1pm class and then another two or three classes after 5pm.

There are pros and cons to teaching adults. I prefer it myself because I find it more interesting, but it's not a walk in the park.

Hello,

My recruiter just told me they are not accepting anymore EPIK applications because, EPIK is not accepting anymore, but on their website it says they have extended the date.

I am a bit confused. What should I do?

Thanks!

Aye in Germany maybe. Though I guess that will at least stop all those German job applicants. Very Happy

Apply direct would be my suggestion.

In regards to Epik I don't see any advantage in using a recruiter....am I missing something?
