Anybody have any info on this? I was at Konkuk Univ station at around 12:30 today when there was an announcement that the line had been shut down because of a fire (at least that was what somebody told me while I was like the only person still waiting).

I wound having to backtrack to line 5 to get to Sinchon made me 30 minutes late for my game

Yep, the clockwise trains on the green line were stopped around lunchtime because of a fire at Guui station...

Luckily I was going counter-clockwise anyway on that line and I didn't get caught up in any delay.

A fire broke out on subway line 2 between Kuui Station and Kangbyon Station at 12:06 p.m. on Sunday, suspending the operation of trains for more than an hour.

The fire started at a transformer near the subway tracks and was extinguished by 12:44 p.m., according to the Seoul Metropolitan Subway Corp.

There were no casualties from flames or smoke as the fire occurred on a section of the line that runs above the ground. However, the power supply was cut briefly, stranding passengers.

The subway corporation suspended the operation of the subway line 2 for about an hour, but resumed the service except for the section between Samsong Station and Uljiro Station. Trains began running in the closed section at 1:25 p.m.

Korea Electric Power Corporation conducted recovery work, while the emergency center and the police are investigating the exact cause of the fire.

hmmm that was right near me, the next stop down the line actually.

glad no one was hurt, though was a pain in the butt to get across town for that hour.

didn't realize how dependent I've become on the subway to get around Seoul, been here 2 months now and couldn't tell you what buses serve this area

I live 2 blocks from where the fire was. I'm not sure if anyone was hurt but the traffic was terrible bad for 2 hours. I walked by where the fire took place right after and the police and fire trucks were still there. There was almost a fist fight between bus driver and someone else. The bus couldn't get through because the section was bloked off. It was pretty funny and intense. The cops had to seperate them. Anyways, it was minor pain in the ass but hopefully nobody was hurt.

Must be something in the air this weekend. I saw no less than 10 fights between irate koreans. One was a very open fist fight between a father and son with the mother screaming at them, in an underground shopping mall.

I had to stop and watch. Family bonding is a beautiful thing.

This stuff happens far too often in these parts. Two deadly fires in the Daegu subway within a decade make this seem inconsequential, but I'll admit to scoping out the exits when I'm on a train (not that the exits would matter during rush hour when everyone's packed in like olives).
