I realize that this sounds like a riddle, but I'm having a bit of trouble:

I'm about to make my first flight over to Korea to teach with EPIK. Due to an error made by dear old mum, I now am repurchasing a ticket to arrive at the right time (Feb 17th). The pick-up service from EPIK is at Gimhae International Airport, but because we're so close to crunch time I can't get a flight straight into Busan, I can only get one to Incheon. This appears to mean that buses/KTX will be necessary, but I speak no Korean and am fairly concerned about getting there. I'm traveling solo.

Any advice? Or knowledge on how to from point a to point b?

There should be an information desk in arrivals that will tell you what bay the express bus from Incheon to Busan goes from. It's across the road from most of the others that are on the airport side of the road. The cost is about 48,000 won and takes you to Nopodong Station in Busan which is the end of line.

It's not too hard, plenty of people speak English around the airport

There are buses, but I'd feel more comfortable using the KTX.

The airport line goes directly to Seoul Station, and you can buy a KTX ticket to Busan easily (both trains travel very frequently). In fact I believe the train option will be slightly faster (although you will pay more and have to walk more than taking the bus)

Edit:

Either option you choose- there are TONS of signs in English (you will see the sign for the bus to Busan, but more signs for the Airport train Smile )

It's easy and all the signs are in English, you'll be okay.

Airport bus to Seoul Station, KTX to Busan, airport bus direct from Busan Station to Gimhae airport.

OR

If you'd prefer to skip the KTX, there's also a direct bus from Incheon Airport to Busan, and then you can take the airport bus from the terminal to Gimhae Airport.

All the buses that leave Incheon can be found on the 1st floor of the airport, with clearly marked signs. There are booths directly outside the doors that sell tickets, and the tellers will understand you. Good luck & welcome!

edit: You might have already looked into this, but you can also fly to Busan from Incheon, if you're willing to spend the money.

there are plenty of flights leaving seoul to gimhae. i'd start there first. i know plenty of people who have flown into seoul and didn't want to wait and take the bus or ktx. purchased ticket at counter. about 70,000 won i believe.

if you take the ktx, please make sure you get the gupo station! there are three stations in busan. from gupo, you take subway to gimhae airport stop, deokchon i think (about 6 minutes on the tram across the street from subway station). it's written in english so it's easy to find. there's a bus that picks you up and takes you to the airport. i'm not sure how often it runs though. i usually cab it or get a ride from a friend.

It might be cheaper to just buy a ticket from Incheon or Gimpo airport to Busan.

Discount airline tickets can be really cheap, and sometimes not far from the price of taking the KTX.

I would look at Air Busan. They're offering 20% discounts on tickets right now too!

You can take the AREX from Incheon to Gimpo, and then fly down to Busan, rather than lugging your bags all over Korea.

The downside though is that your school may possibly not reimburse you for the ticket from Incheon/Gimpo to Busan. I guess it all depends on your contract.
