You ever get caught by your kids and their moms smoking on the street? I lite up when im a block away from my school, but, i don't know, maybe once every 2 months or so Ill hear "TEACHA!" and I try to hide my cigarette as quick as possible, but the kid usually sees it and it just makes you look bad in front of the parent. You ever get caught before?

i remember in the 7th grade i saw a teacher light up. it kind of ruined my world. i was shocked. i thought teachers were the best people, best role models. how naive huh?

a group of students saw me smoking this year actually. i told them it was a secret. now every time i see this one particular student, she always says "teacher i know your secret!"

Haha.

I'm in London and theres a local elementary school where teachers can often be seen standing on guard for each other as they take smoke breaks.

I've kicked the habit so hopefully this wouldn't be a problem for me =).

I'd tell them that they didn't see anything. If they'd try to bring it up again I'd tell them that it was them who were smoking and they felt insecure about it so they go around saying I smoke to make themselves feel better.

At my next school I'll be more careful, like I was at my first school.

How old are some of you guys to think a teacher smoking is questionable?
When I was going to school it was common for teachers to smoke, no big deal. If I were 10 years older I'm sure I would've seen teachers smoking in class.

I guess the B.O. derived from smoking makes a good protectant from the kids getting too close.

Some of my kids try to cadge cigarettes from me. Though I've tried to cut out the casual going for a stroll round the village with a cigarette hanging out my mouth.

Once, some students saw me buying a bottle of wine. They thought it was great.
