Hello everyone,
I am hoping to get some good advice and information. I started working at a high school in Incheon in September 2009 and have started my second contract with the same school.
Recently, I got offered a position in another city as a university professor which is really exciting! The problem is that it starts this coming March and my current contract won't finish until September 2011 and I know most universities want their people to start in March.
Any suggestions for this situation? I know I would need a letter of release from the principal, but what can I do if he does not grant it and if he does, what would be the next step in the process (i.e do I need to get a new visa, can I stay in the country to do that etc etc.)? Any information/ideas/advice is most welcome!
Thank you in advance! |

well, there are some experts on this board... but this is what I think would work.
if no letter of release, and chances are you can't do it that early anyways, you'd have to quit your job, exit Korea, cancel your visa, give them your ARC on your way out and go back home.
in the meantime, work on getting your diploma apostiled and criminal check from FBI, etc.
then, the E-2 visa application process starts all over again, you need your visa number, take passport to consulate/embassy, get visa etc. You could fly out to Japan, return as a tourist, and possibly get your folks to help you get all your docs back "home". then when you get your visa issuance number, you can fly to Japan for a new visa, and re-enter Korea with your new E-2.
This is what I understand in regards, and I hope somebody will come up with an easier way. |

you don't have to go home, Just to Japan and get a tourist visa to get back in. The Univ should sponsor your next E-2 |
