Basically the title says it all?
I thought it was a stomach flu, but I have had it since sunday, and it has not gone away yet |

Some of my students told me a few of their classmates came down with it in the past few days. They do stay home for this one. |

Get to the doctor, man. It happens here every once in a while. Strange food. Sanititaion while ok most of the time still occasionally reverts to traditional non clean style. Only the Japanese traditionally had an obsession with cleanliness. Other Asian countries, not so much. (I'm talking food preparation here.) |

I'm OK but I know of 3 people who have had the bug this week so there's definitely something going around... |

You don't have to take a course or know anything about food safety here to open a restaurant. There's the problem.
The worst bout I ever had here lasted about a week. Drink plenty of Gatorade or an equivalent and go to the pharmacy and ask for some "Jang-Lo-Wan."
btw, I see cross-contamination all the time here. Using the same scissors to cut raw meat and kimchi. |

funny you mention that.
there's a very popular place just outside the school that most students jump the fence for in order to visit.
and get their "punch rice".
Yesterday, 120 of our students came down with some sort of food poisoning/sickness and diarrhea..
guess from where?
I was amazed the place was open today. Stateside the health dept would've been there today at the latest. |

A kid today was incredibly sick but turned up anyway.
The other kids in the class explained 'new flu'.
Naturally, I made a flapping motion questionably. They said no.
Made a pig motion, they said yes.
I can confidently say swine flu is the cause and Korea is about to suffer the outbreak. |

haha man i had diarrea like every day for the first 3 weeks or so of being here
they're just so like easy going with food sanitation
they use the same tongs to serve you pork meat and then use the tongs to touch raw pork and do it all over again
NOT COOL
my buddy who visited me had diarrhea every day too lol when he came here last summer for a week
crappy hahaha
i think you'll get over it. unless it's a reaction type thing. in which case, get some diarrhea medicine, after a loose bowel movement, take some because it'll prevent it from happening again i guess
if it's like a bug, then just wait it out i guess lol |

Can attest to this. I think it's a combination of awful food as well as substandard sanitation. |
