When I re-sign this year, I am given a single entry visa. I could pay for the multiple entry, but I know I will not need it as we are leaving after the next contract. Here's my situation. Please give me your thoughts.

I will apply for a new visa in January. I will leave the country for a month. I will return on February 28. Will I be allowed into the country if I don't have a multiple entry visa? If it were just me, I wouldn't mind spending the extra 50.000. But I also would need it for my wife and children. I would rather not waste the money.

Thanks.

IF you are a REGISTERED foreigner (have an ARC) then you no longer need a multi-entry or re-entry permit.

If you are unregistered then your visa will be canceled when you depart.

Same with your wife and child.

so you are saying that since I received my first ARC (4 years ago) that I no longer needed to purchase the multiple entry visa? Just pay the 30.000KRW for the extension on my ARC?

Effective as of Dec. 1, 2010, ALL registered foreigners (those holding an ARC) will no longer need a re-entry permit to exit and enter Korea.

The allowed (continuous) period of time outside of Korea is 1 year or until the visa expiry (whichever comes first) - 2 years in the case of an F5.

You are awesome. Hope you become an expert on all things regarding teaching in Florida soon as that's where I'll be headed to next. Will miss all of your advice.
