Details are at the above link but remember that you must sign up in advance and there's no shuttle bus on Mondays. Other than that, take a look at the link and maybe there's something that may help you or a friend. The other routes stop running on December 31, 2010, but the Seoul to Pyeongchang & Gangneung route continues until the end of February. |

Not exactly ideal for planning, seeing as tickets for oversubscribed buses are assigned by drawing lots (at least this happens 10 days ahead of the trip), rather than first come first served.
As a side note, I would also be impressed if they print out and cut up everyones name for every bus and draw them.. maybe they do. but maybe they look at a list brandishing a highlighter and say "umm.. ok, him, her, them, him..." I guess it amounts to the same, unless their "only foreign tourist" mission guides them to weed out the David Kims and Grace Parks of the world. |

PyeongChang ...offers free ...shuttle service
2010-12-07 17:36
Gangwon Province launched Monday a free shuttle bus service linking Seoul to PyeongChang, some 200 kilometers east of Seoul, for overseas visitors.
The new shuttle service, operated by the Visit Korea Committee, is designed to provide the growing number of winter sports tourists with easy access to the popular winter sports resort. And it is also a part of a plan to promote PyeongChangs bid to host the 2018 Winter Olympics, the bid committee said.
According to the bid committee, the shuttle service connects Seoul with the Alpensia Resort and Gangneung, the proposed location of the Olympic Village and competition venues for PyeongChangs Winter Games plan. It will operate for three months in each winter season starting this week.
PyeongChang and Gangwon Province are already popular destinations for winter sports enthusiasts, and with the launch of this new service, we look forward to welcoming even more people to the area to enjoy all the amenities it has to offer, Hahn Kyung-hwa, marketing director of the Visit Korea Committee, said in a press release.
Cho Yang-ho, CEO of PyeongChangs bid committee, said, We look forward to welcoming all the winter sports fans to PyeongChang, and we would be honored to welcome the world for the 2018 Winter Games.
More information can be found at the Visit Korea Year website (http://english.visitkoreayear.com) or call 1577-2507.
