I am preparing my documents to come to Korea in the new year and was just wondering if someone could please clarify whether original degrees are accepted if they are Apostilled?
Do you have to send a copy of the degree with an Apostille or can it still be an original degree with an Apostille?
Thank you |

Immigration will keep whatever you send with the apostille attached so if you want to lose your original, sent it, if not then use a copy with the apostille.
There is no difference to you in terms of difficulty or cost (maybe the cost of getting a photo-copy) so make a copy, get the apostille on it and save your original for your wall.

Don't you have to get a "real" copy from your school though? Then have that notarized and THEN have it apostilled?
Or can I just photocopy the original and then notarize/apostille?
I was just going to get a copy from my school since I have an indeterminate amount of time before my CBC comes back.
And since my starter thread is way down the bottom I'll just post this question here. When it comes to the apostille (for my diploma) how does that work? I'm staying out in CA until I leave but my degree is from MI. So do I have to send it to the MI Sec of State to be apostilled? |

Make a photo copy.
Have a notary notarize it / certify that it is a true copy of the original.
Send that to the sec. of state for the apostille.
You should be able to get it done in CA.

You have to have your degree and CBC apostilled now? I'm re-signing again next, so I have to go through the process as a new teacher. |

IF you are NOT from Canada then YES they both require an apostille.
IF you are from Canada you need to have them certified by the Korean consulate in Canada (or the certificate of authenticity from the Canadian Embassy in Seoul.) |
