Hey all,
I'm trying to start a gaming club at my board game cafe in the Hongdae area of Seoul. It would revolve around weekly meetings, probably on Mondays, where a group of us gather at my place for a few hours of friendly gaming (card games, board games, role-playing, whatever...). Eventually, I'd like to start a website for our group with pictures, member information, game reviews and other stuff (take a look at the Terminal City Gamers' site for an example of what I'd like to do: http://www.terminalcitygamers.com/index.html
All I'm asking for is a one-time fee of 10,000W to become an official member. This isn't so much a money-making scheme, as it is a way to create a list of "official" members. Official members can play for free during the weekly meetings, and I'll more than likely think of some other benefits to offer club members in the future. Perhaps some charity all-night game-a-thons are possible as well.
So if you like gaming and would like to meet others with a similar interest, leave a note.
I'm excited about this... it should be a lot of fun!
Brian

The link should work now...
I already got a response from another guy. I think I'm gonna shoot for our first meeting next Monday.

| Bah! If only you wanted to hang out at the Konkuk University board game cafes. I would be over there in a shot. |

How about Poker? Anyone play Poker? I love a good poker game.
I use to have a regular game back home. Nothing too high-stakes, maybe 20-30,000 won worth of chips each, raise limits etc. Just enough to make interesting. Chip values of 500 won, 1000 won and 2000 won.
I like board games too, but Monday nights in Hongdae is too much of a trek from Bundang. |

Has anyone here ever played the greatest CCG ever, Legend Of The Five Rings? I'd be up for that.

I'm interested in joining.
I brought a few games over with me, like Aberrant, Adventure!, CORPS, and EABA (the latter two are generic systems from BTRC games).
I'd be interested in playing in, or running, an Aberrant or an Adventure! campaign.
Note: I'll be leaving Korea in April and returning in July, so I'll be absent for most of the early club activities.
Question: will club meetings be held at Universalis' game cafe? I know Universalis posted a note about a one-time member's fee of 10,000 won, and I assume that means no hourly rate will be charged by the game cafe while engaging in club activities. Is my assumption correct?
P.S. I recently bought a copy of the White Wolf rpg Demon: The Fallen. I don't like it and would like to sell it. It's in mint condition, so I figure that 25,000 won is a fair price. Anybody interested? |

Canucksaram,
That is absolutely correct... pay the 10,000won sign up free, and game time at our cafe during club activites is free (of course, I'm still hoping ya'll will buy some of our snacks and drinks )
And like I said, I'm not trying to make a buck with this club fee... I just want membership in our group to be meaningful. Paying a small sign-up fee indicates to me that you're serious about what we're doing.
And I would love to play a game of Adventure! I heard it was a good game!

RE: sign-up fee.
Now that you've clarified, it sounds all right. I'm glad my assumption was correct.
What use with the nominal fee be used for, then? A big pizza order once the "serious" members actually start gaming? |

Canucksaram,
I'm sure it'll be used towards buying new games for our cafe.
Matthew's World,
Business is still slow, but gradually improving. This past Sunday was our biggest day ever, in fact.

Our game club is underway. We now have 5 official members and have spent the past few mondays playing games like Puerto Rico, Bang, Blokus, Ricochet Robots, and Pitch Car.
It's never too late to join!
