Sounds like an intensely boring movie, to me; I've never heard of it.

OP, I've been showing them Home Alone. I work at a middle school, and their tests were finished over a week ago. Last week I did a Christmas in English-speaking countries lesson with a couple of videos to illustrate the customs and traditions I was teaching. This is the last week, though, excepting a couple of days next week and the winter festival. They're done, their grades are locked in and many of them are preparing their performances for our festival. Indeed it is movie week--or as my friend like to say: "Western culture through cinema".

Edit: typo.

Teachers are still going over tests with students, so I'm still deskwarming and one teacher told me that she will only bring students to my class next week IF I will show a movie.

I'm getting to be very good at knitting!

Were the teachers okay with the half-naked Ramona scene where Scott walks in?

There are no other teachers with me this week......and that was small potatoes compared to the bed scene with Scott and Ramona or, the biggest shock, *gasp* when Warren was kissing that other boy with the glasses.

It's an "ask for forgiveness, not permission" scenario if things get squirrelly later, but I dont see that happening.

The Blind Side

I'm from Tennessee (the real story is set in Memphis) and it's a good story. So far my co-ed school and my all boys schools loved it. Monday I will show it at my all girl's school. 99% sure they will enjoy it too. I've even got girl who is interested in Football.

I walked in to my second grade middle schoolers (girls school) today in the middle of watching Ajeoshi or something like that. Theyd watched it in the previous lesson and wanted to carry on watching it.

Ive also had to stop the first graders watching the texas chainsaw massacre, saw, and another 19 movie that i cant remember Smile It seems that when it comes to violence, its fine. Maybe ill download bad taste or evil dead 2 and have them watch it. Laughing

I avoid movies in lessons - Personally I think its bad practice but different people have different environments - I guess i'm in a similar situation to most high school PS teachers where the students are in that dull spot between exams and the official end of term - i try and keep things light with a lot of language games, hangman things like that...... but just showing a whole movie for an hour seems a bit of a waste of time to me

i can see what you mean. but as a student, i loved movie days. if anything, it can be used as a cultural thing. or a good opportunity to show them movies that they normally wouldn't be exposed to as a korean. and at this time, korean students are spent. they study so damn much anyway, if anything, it's a good break for them to just mentally recharge.

but games like hangman.... i avoid that like the plague. i'd rather show a movie then play a game like hangman.

i showed mr. bean's holiday my first year in korea to all of my classes, all of my grades. i kicked myself in the butt later that week after having viewed that movie 24 times. keep in mind that i don't even like mr. bean and find him mildly annoying.
