A few years ago, I left my old job which was a public school. I have been hired by a university in the same province where I used to work, but a few hours from my old city. Has anyone had any problems when applying for a visa through the immigration office if you left the country and tried to return to a new job? I am especially concerned since it is the same province.

There are soft facts circulating about employees having the ability to report teachers to the immigration office or flag you for several years. Is any of this true? Im looking for some concrete facts and not rumours. It would be so help to hear from anyone, if you did a midnight run or quit a job and if you had any problems with immigration, especially in the same province.

My visa application will probably be in a different immigrnation office - different city, but same province.

Thanks.

I take it you did a runner a few years ago, otherwise I don't know why you would be asking. If so, I think they would have to have a reason to flag you, like unpaid bills or something worse(true or trumped-up). Do you have reason to believe they would be out to get you?

I left during vacation and I didnt leave any classes unfinished. It would be very helpful if you had any information. What do you mean by flag? Alot of people use that word; however, I am really looking for facts here whether people can actually do this with the immigration office.

I used the word "flag' because that is the word you used, and by it I guess I meant "draw their attention to and cause you problems". What did you mean by it?

Sorry, I do not have any hard facts, just plenty of conjecture. That is why I asked if you had reason to believe they would be out to get you. Because unless you broke some laws or left some big bills unpaid, I doubt immi would get involved.

That's all I have. Good luck!

If you did leave bills unpaid, it's still probably not a big issue with immigration I wouldn't imagine.

I assume you're asking this because perhaps you either left abruptly and pissed off the management or something else. Like other posters said, if you didn't do anything wrong, you shouldn't have much to worry about but I'm thinking perhaps you did.

Therefore, I am seeking facts relevant to if there is really something as 'flagging'. .

Yes there is. However some schools will complain and some won't. It all depends on the school, how much you ticked them off, and what you did to tick them off.

If the school did not complain then you should have no problems. If the school complained you might have problems. It's hard to say because we don't have much to go on and each case is different. That said if it is something minor like an unpaid bill, Immigration probably won't care all that much.

Thanks, but this was three years ago and it might be a different immigration office, so is there really a possibility they will look up my record for an old E2 visa to see my record?

Yes. But there is also a possibility they won't. Immigration tends to be inconsistent with some policies varying from one office to the next. As long as it was a minor issue I don't think you have much to worry about.
