Ive got to say that this chick flick is not only a chick flick, but MY FAVORITE movie of all time:
Titanic.
Just great acting and character development, and add to the fact that it was a true story makes it one-of-a-kind. |

Titanic makes me want to retch. An agonizing two and a half hours of pure smarm. The first time I saw it, it was in something like it's 18th week of playing at my local theater, and I had finally broken down and decided to take the plunge (ha HA!) The opening credits started rolling and this pair of teenagers, definitely not on their first viewing, start crying like maimed puppies. Twas a sad, sad day it took the Oscar.
My favorite chick flick is probably Amelie. |

I saw While You Were Sleeping recently, and it was great fun, simple and charming.
Ella Enchanted is good too, and that's a teen (or even kids') chick flick. I used to "hate" (not really, but you know...) adults who watched Disney movies and stuff, but I've softened on the issue. I even like Shrek! |

| Never Been Kissed. Predictable, but funny and colorful. A coming of age story. Drew Barrymore has the part down perfectly. |

Amelie? Is that even a chick flick? It's just a really fantastic movie.
My fave would probably be Love Actually. Great soundtrack, good ensemble cast, lots of humour, some boobies. It's got just about everything. And just try and tell me you don't get misty-eyed in the final scene as God only knows kicks up in the background to emotional scenes of airport reunions (both real and staged). |

I second that, great movie

True? Whaddya talking about?? All that Leo Dio stuff was made up!!
The parts that concerned the actual sinking though were pretty cool, I will grant you that. |

| There's an indie film called "Gas Food Lodging," starring Fairuza Balk, Ione Skye, and Brooke Adams. It's about this single mom raising two daughters (one slutty and rebellious, the other wide-eyed and innocent) in a small town by a desert. It's hard to explain what makes it so great, but it really is. It hits at a lot of truths about family, love, and all that stuff... |

What qualifies as a "chick flick"? Any movie my husband assumes he won't like?
Romance? Romantic comedy? I don't know!
But I was going to say "Amelie" as well. I hate to admit it, but I don't watch as many films with female leads. I think writers just suck at writing women. I wish they could take something like The Brothers Bloom or The Science of Sleep and switch the genders of the characters and all the associated gender pronouns. Then we'd have great films about women where the writing doesn't completely grate on you. |
