Two days ago I signed up for another year at my public school. Now a UNI has offered me a job that I want to take.
Both start next March so there is no letter of release issue.
What do I do?
Do I have a problem?
Any advice would be appreciated. |

Depends what you mean by "signed up" -- actually inked a new contract? Seems early for that. If you simply indicated your intention to renew that isnt binding in any way. |

This past summer I signed a renewal contract but I changed my mind after. The office wasn't happy with my decision though. I'm pretty sure you can do the same. Just tell them you have a family emergency back home, therefore you can't renew. |

Until you sign the application for (and receive) the extension of your ARC it is meaningless. Your job ends when your ARC ends.
Quit and take the new job.

Instead you should tell them honestly what happens. Yeah its a bit akward, but you have to look out for #1's best interest.
Make sure you submit your notice IN WRITING. If you signed your renewal agreement, you have to submit it in writing. If you haven't signed your renewal agreement, you may be able to just let your existing contract expire and follow the rules in your contract for ending it.
Secondly, make sure you have your contract signed and sealed from the Uni before submitting your notice. I'd hate to see someone quit a job they thought was decent enough to do again for another year, only to have their other plan fall through. |

You are not a slave so you should never let yourself be treated as one. Get the university to pay for a round trip ticket to Fukuoka. Go to the embassy there and file for your university job. In a matter of about 48 hours you will have your new work visa with the Uni.
Don't forget to go and enjoy yourself while in your Fukoakoa either. They have great bars there!
This is all if they refuse to work with you and try to treat you like your property and don't let you out of your contract. |
