I'm hoping they would do more than install cameras, seems like the subways already have cameras everywhere. |

Being crowded is no excuse for being dangerous. |

Logically, no matter how safe subway stations are, there's got to be one that has the most crimes, even if that number of crimes is much lower than another subway station in another country.
(I suppose it is logically possible that two stations could have exactly the same number of crimes per time period, but it's hard to imagine that happening in reality.) |

The #2 line is the busiest so it could just be "more ridership = more crimes" even though, statistically, it's the same crime rate as the other lines.
The #9 line is being built to be a second subway loop around Seoul and it's SUPPOSED to take some of the traffic from the #2 line. We shall see. It may just give subway access to more people- more stations = more ridership. |

Why just the other day, I saw this tool jump the turnstile at Sadang Station. I told him he didn't have to commit a crime just to transfer and I tried to point him in the right direction, but then he got all defensive, plugged his ears, and yelled that I was wrong over and over again. Then he told me all his imaginary Korean and non-Korean friends did it all the time too. At that point, I figured there is no point arguing with the crazy. |

It goes from west to east, or east to west. How is that a loop around Seoul? |

You're correct. It's not going to be an actual loop but it's meant to take some of the traffic from the #2 line. Plus it does serve the booming parts of Seoul. |

Ah, yeah. That, too. An ex-cop told me once that a study had been done that concluded that there were more crimes where there were more toilets. Why? Because there are more people in those areas. More people, more toilets. More people, more crime. Correlation does not imply causation.
Anyway, I still think Korea's crime rate is pretty dang low. I've never felt threatened anywhere, anytime in the 15 years that I've lived here. |

I read this article too. Supposedly, Sadang is #1 by a country mile too. Never personally experienced problems though, even when at one point, I made two transfers there on a daily basis.
Korea in general is very safe for the general public compared to North America. |
