|
|
I recently bought a ticket from Seoul to Beijing for Christmas vacation. My plan had been to spend a few days in Beijing, take the overnight train to Shanghai, spend New Year's in Shanghai, and then fly back to Seoul from there. I got the tickets booked, and everything seemed to be ok.
A friend later told me that the Chinese embassy will not issue travel visas to foreigners with less than 6 months remaining on their ARC. Mine expires at the end of February. I dug around a little and found stories from people confirming this, other stories saying that it is still possible to get it done in Seoul, and others saying that the best bet is to go down to Busan and get it done, as the embassy there does not follow this rule (???)
Can anyone shed any light on this? If this is true, is there any kind of loophole? I don't understand what the working visa in Korea has to do with a travel visa to China. I'd like to get it taken care of sooner rather than later, so that if I need to cancel my tickets to China, I can still find alternative plans for the Christmas vacation.
Thanks! |

theres two ways for you to get a visa.
1. your arc is valid for at least another 6 months
2. you have already been to china in the past year and have a visa in your passport to proove that.
if neither of these options apply to your circumstances, then you either
1. cannot go
2. have to find a way around it |

I have to wonder if this "extra charge" might better be called a "bribe". |
