I need to find some cute gifts for a 1 year old boy and girl (belgium). While I would have no problem getting gifts for years 3 and up I have no experience with infants. I realise the gift is more for the parents than the kids but I'm drawing a blank here. What ever it is has to be light as I will be flying with it.
Cute socks and mittens have already been ruled out.
any ideas? |

are they in Belgium? get them hanboks! the 1 year birthday is huge in korea and the babies wear mini hanboks here to celebrate it. parenys will love it because of the cultural aspect of it.
other than that baby clothes and accessories are ridiculously overpriced here...quality yes, but nothing middle of the road exists. |

Liquor for the parents and a plastic bag for the kids?
Seriously though, anything soft that they can hold onto. Stuffed animal, blanket, maybe a ball, not a heavy schoolyard ball, but a lightweight one that the kid can hold with both hands.
All else fails, the plastic bag is a good, classy fallback gift. |

As a parent I can say that clothing is ALWAYS appreciated. And, for the kids, soft toys, bathtime toys, blocks, soft ball, stuffed animal, books... |

Why don't you get them both a small, soft Pororo. Explain to the parents that he is the most popular Korean character. He's cute, anyway-- very colorful with big glasses-- my kid loves to look at him, and he's not quite 1.5 years. |

When my niece was born I got my sister a bamboo mat and a small Korean table. My sister loved putting the baby on the mat for nap time or changing her diapers. The table was handy because as my niece got older she could sit at it and eat or color or play or whatever.
Also, the mink blankets are nice as is any fuzzy warm blanket for babies/kids. |
