I'm employed on an E2 visa and plan on taking a vacation from December 26 - January 1. I just lost my ARC and am aware of the fact that I should go to Immigration and report the card as missing ASAP.
I have yet to make my way to Immigration. What might happen when I try to leave and return to Korea without the ARC in my possession? |

Under the new re-entry rules (no re-entry permit in your passport) you will need it to exit and re-enter Korea ...
and probably need it to prove your right to return to Korea without onward passage when you get to the check-in counter for your flight home.

If you've been here for more than 3 months, then you'll probably need it in order to prove that you haven't overstayed your visa. Remember, even if you have the E2 visa, the initial visa itself is only valid for 90 days. Without registering, you can't stay the full year. If you have no ARC, it's hard for you to prove that you did in fact register.
They might let you leave with no problem. They might even let you back in with nothing but a warning not to do it again. But do you want to risk it? |
