I guess it's officially cold. Problem is, I don't have a large winter coat.
I'm 6'6 so have fewer options than most.

I've seen some jackets in Itaewon; North Face and Jack Wolfskin (probably rip-off), but would also be interested in some army surplus gear. Does anyone know of any specific shops (or markets) that would sell said items?

I know of this place, but they are a bit too expensive;

www.mrbig.co.kr (yes Mr Big!)

And this place, but more Korean fashion orientated;

www.stylebig.com

I think I'll order a specific one from home, but Ill need one while I await delivery.

Have you considered a tailor??? They can make a simple overcoat of wool or cashmere that will keep you warm. My husband had one made years ago and still wears it.

Nordstrom, LL Bean, etc deliver to Korea. You can also go shopping on any US website and us the site www.myus.com for an American address and then that company can send you whatever you want. I just signed up and ordered some cajun favorites. It was very fast and easy!

Tailor? Maybe. I was more after a mutli-layered jacket. There is something specific that I want to order, but it will take a couple of weeks to deliver here. I need something 'cheapish' till last till then.

Thanks for the myus link. I'll look into it.

Some emarts have a big and tall section, with a limited selection of their own clothing lines. Try your luck there. I got a nice winter coat for a mere 30,000 a few weeks back. I'm only 5'11 though

It's officially cold Winter time. Itaewon is the place. It's not the rip off it might appear to be on the surface, they do good work, but it's not cheap as you might expect. It's Western prices for what seems like thin materials when you flip through the selections though craftsmanship is exceptionally better than department store variety. I got quoted 350,000 won for a cashmere half length coat, but the thin as bed sheet material appeared to lack durability where you could easily damage it just walking around town brushing up with people and things. I love my wool shirts and cotton khaki pants I got at a tailor on the main street. It'll take 3 to 5 days to finish an order. Where can I get a tailor made gas powered heated suit?
