Currently my girlfriend and I are looking for positions in Korea. We have been talking to a woman named Yangjin at Planet People. Has anyone had any experience with this company?

Thanks,
Stephen

Hi Stephen,

The reputation or feature-list of a recruiter is inconsequential. They will do everything they can to connect you with a position as quickly as possible (so that they get paid), while ensuring the position is close enough to what you want so that you stay for at least 6 months (so that they don't have to give the money back or find your replacement).

Best advice: contact every recruiter you can, and choose a job based solely on the actual employer's offer/merits.

Best of luck!

Hey Stephen,

Did you end up going with Planet People? If so, how were they?

See through the recruiters for who they are: middle men. No more, no less. If they can't get you a spot fast, they'll drop you for the myriad of people who go with the first job they receive.

I worked with them for a bit, but then had to drop Yangjin because she kept calling me and offering me horrible positions. She kept telling me that I should accept something for 2.0 million won and that I was lucky to be offered that. It was also a completely new school, and it sounded incredibly unstable. During the interview, the boss' son (because the boss couldn't speak ANY English) asked me if I was single. Twice. And then went "ohh...hmm" when I told him I was. ?????? Rolling Eyes
Work with someone else if you can!!

Thanks bud.

Appreciate a substantial response. I think we'll steer clear.

So tired of reading the same rhetoric from people who jump on any question regarding a specific recruiter. Why not try to find out everything you can before making a decision? There clearly are some recruiters that are better than others.
