Hi guys

Its that time of year again when exams will soon be finished. I'm hoping to put together a class for my high school students involving The Simpsons. The English ability of the students is quite low so I think Korean subtitles would be useful to help them understand the episode.

I'm having some real problems trying to find Koran subtitles using Google search. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to where I can find them?

Of course they exists there have been two links provided. The gom tv one has heaps, even very old ones, sure they are smi files which work best with gom player but if you want to convert them to srt then use subtitle workshop

These are all halloween episodes, split into parts, very useful for when you want to reward your kids, but not with a whole episode. They all have Korean subs and are about 6mins long

Some of your more download savvy students might be able to help. Mine found all three episodes of Toy Story from an incredibly fast download site and downloaded all 3 in minutes. I'm sure they can find Simpson's cartoons or anything else for that matter. But instead of the Simpson's, you might want to try those old Tom & Jerry and Road Runner cartoons. For the most part, they don't need subtitles.

I have boxed sets of Simpson's by Season on DVD that my co-teacher purchased on one of those online shopping internet sites. They're in English with subtitles in English, Korean, Thai, Mandarin or Caontonese.

Yes, piece of cake. Download your Simpsons (or anything show) and then open it in GOM. Click "자학도우미" at the bottom left of GOM, then click the middle korean word in the dropdown menu "자막 찾기". This will open a window in your internet browser with all the possible matches. Find the correct episode/movie and click "바로보기". You should be good to go.

I'm sure I'm preaching to the choir but a little bit of candy goes a loooong way in getting the kids to really listen to the dialog (and not just tune out and read the subs). Pause it every so often and ask a question. If you can speak a bit of Korean you might say, "Homer said '정말 환성적인 도넛이야!' What is that in English?" From then on they're all ears.

Found a great website for finding Korean subtitles for movies. Maybe they have subs for shows as well??? Anyway, should be compatible with VLC player.

Go to http://cineast.co.kr/

At the top there are a bunch of menu options. Click on the 3rd one 자료실.

From the drop down menu, select the first option. 자막자료실.

Then just type your movie name into the box. Make sure the movie title says한글 (Korean) above it. Often there are lots of choices, so try and find the titles that best fit your movie.

Most Subtitle files have the .smi file appendix

Sometimes the Korean title is different to the Western title and it's better to search in Korean. To do this go to google.co.kr and click on search Korean sites only. Type in the title in English and the Korean title should come up in the search results, copy and paste into cineast search box.
