Hi anyone who is reading this (hopefully sane, honest, laid back, and who wants to see India as much as I) I am hoping to travel to India this Spring from March 18th to April 3rd. I have always wanted to go to India see it, explore, taste, try, and see new things. I think the culture is so beautiful. Only thing is going as a lone female is not advised and I am hoping maybe someone from South Korea (i currently teach in Seoul) would want to come with! If so let me know. We can chat...make sure the other is not a nut case and hopefully start making plans for this trip of a life time! - Faina |

Just two weeks in India? That's like Europe in a weekend! That's only "a trip of a lifetime" to someone who doesn't plan on seeing much of the world. I was for a moment interested in this thread, thinking at least two months, 3-6 months closer to reality for anything other than rushing around and taking quick snapshots. |

I plan on going to India, but for like 2 months during March and April. You don't want to room with a dude you don't know. If brave, then go alone and meet other female travelers along the way. I was tempted take a flight to Chennai in January for only 757,000, but 2 weeks just isn't enough to do India unless it's only a Kerala beach holiday or a visit to the Taj. Everyone I've met absolutely loved going and wished to return. Your floor managers in office jobs of large companies have been to Bangalore, India to train them at replacing American workers. Like China, it's an ambitious 3rd world country quickly bringing on the new economic wealth freshly exported from America. I hear it's incredibly polluted and crowded though they speak English, have a great sense of humor, and can take care of your basic needs. They'll even put on a hard bargain using high pressure sales tactics. I know to just ignore that part of the trip if I'm not buying what they got. Remember, "no thanks," is a big YES to the sellers. |

Two weeks is OK if you're just in one area, you can see and do a bit in two weeks. Rajasthan is always good for the first timer, but expect many headaches from touts.
For the record, I've traveled there for 4 months and hardly scratched the surface. It's a place of lofty peaks, chaotic cities, palaces, temples, beaches, you name it, it warrants countless visits to get to know.
For the single female, you'll get a lot of attention from Indian males who see Western women as easy (you can thank Hollywood and the Paris Hiltons of the world for that) so unless you're very strong willed, hooking up with a male is a good option, even if it's just a friend.
Meeting up with other travelers is possible, especially if you're a young woman, there will be many young knights out there to protect you. |

I only have 16 days to go to India so a little over 2 weeks..because i teach and work throughout the year. As you know most schools end in June and going to India in June would be around the time of monsoon season...I know I cannot possibly see all of India in 16 days...and ideally i would love to go for 2 months but that is not an option yet..in 16 days i do believe i can see delhi the taj..varanasi..and much of the north...I can always save the rest of india for a second visit. So this post is really for someone who will already be there and wants a travel buddy or someone who also can only go for 16 days.. |
