in central seoul, near jongno would be better.

one with free weights (dumbells/barbells), lockers, clean, modern
if they have cable rows that would be good, haven't seen those yet here

Hi, I'm in a similar situation. Have you find anywhere around Jongno area?
I appreciate yours or anyone's response regarding this.

Thanks

My Korean buddy is a mountain climber and was making the trek from Hongdae to Myeongdong for a gym there when he was training, as he was really disappointed with the facilities at all the gyms near his house (he's used to American varsity facilities). I'm not sure exactly where it is, but it's somewhere off the main strip, you might be able to find it if you wandered around a bit. Don't know if that's any help.

Yes thanks, I did not realise Myeongdong was so close until I explored today. I shall have a wander round and see what I can find and will write back on here.
In the meantime have a look at my blog @ http://jdbrownlie.wordpress.com and thanks for the advice.

Wow your blog is cool! I love how you share your experiences online in a witty and interesting way. I also love how different it is from the other 10,000 blogs on Korea. I'm so glad you whored it here, or I never would have found it!

I'm interested in using Jacob's Ladder, if anyone knows of a gym that has it. I've never done it before, but my trainer from back home sent me a link and said "FIND ONE" so I'm searching. All of the gyms near me look like they came out of the 1950s. I let my membership expire and am looking for a new one, working out at home in the meantime.

Thank you for your comments. Reading that makes me want to write more. Look out for something new in the next week or so.
Take care

Okay, I found one in the Jongno area. Near YBM Si-Sa there's a building called Dream Palace on the 10th floor of that building is the gym. It's got some free weights, plenty of running machines, a spinning room and of course showers.
The packages differ, if you just want to use the facilities prices range from 240,000w for 3 months, 360,000w for 6 and a year's membership for 600,000w.
It's looks fine and I'll join when I get paid.
