Back in the day ummm 2006ish I had skates that would glide me through Winter Break- Ok ok I did work 2 weeks in January - did a supa funny bunny English Camp and made Cheese sandwiches and Snowmen ( YES that came with a written handout and ppt and was done in English it was ummm tactile learning) But now look at my terrible condition!

I must work all January with 3 Camp classes a day with no Co-teacher and 10 students. I get ZERO extra pay. Then of course I get my contract alloted 20 something vacation days off! (want to meet me in N. Laos in the Jungles I am hunting for Big Cat pictures)

Then when I get back late Febuary I have to DESK WARM with No studnets around at all! The insult and tedium! I shall make a movie of myself doing Greek style sport running about the teachers office and leaping from desk to desk and put it up on Naver to become famious (dont worry they never fire public school teachers)

I can not belive this! These People are making me work almost all my contratual winter hours! What happened to the fat days of yore!? I recall teachers would whine and complain when they had to teach 2 weeks and only the extra cash would sooth them!

I may as well return to Formosa where I got wayyyyyy mad I had to deskwarm when ZERO students were there for the winter/summer breaks after I taught the English Vacation Camps.

If there was a hawkwon that gave 3 weeks in winter and 3 weeks in the summer it might just be better than a public school with these dreadful contract following conditions!? That sounds insane to say though... I still get the odd school birthday off yet...

I may just have to get a university teaching job again... though it is a bit of a bother having to grade students... still the teaching was sweet and I did not get bothered with silly unpaid camps or deskwarming...

Ultimately I blame you teachers who bragged and boasted of your 4 month paid vacations- and perhaps the Korean media who put us all up as great skate ballet Nut Crackers sleeping all winter or hiding in big tropical tree swings.

I am going to stop this tirade and put my resume up on some international boards...

I get what my contract says, but that is because I don't deskwarm school maybe over but afterschool classes keep trucking. I wonder how I am going to get my extra 2 weeks if I re sign next year?

Hmm you are not deskwarming? sweet! Do not tell anyone or summer break they will make you! Yeah the resign extra vacation time still beats the private school jobs I dont think most give 2 weeks vacation for a 2nd year.
