Changdong is where I'm moving to in February. How is it?
Thanks,

I worked in ChangDong a few years ago, it's a bit dull. You are, however, not far from Nowon, Suyu and Hyehwa, and ChangDong Station is on lines 1 and 4 on the subway, making it easy to get to Hyehwa and Dongdaemun.
By bus, it's an hour away from Gangnam. Itaewon and Hongdae are more of a hassle to get to, and it takes about 30 minutes by bus to get to Jongno.
There's not much in Changdong, the area around ChangDong Station is the most happening, but not much is happening there. There's an Emart by the station, a very grim one, I used to go there to buy groceries when starving and wanted to cry at the dismal selection of food.
In other words, it's not bad, just boring. You could probably walk to the Suyu area depending where in Changdong you are. There are some good restaurants and bars in Suyu, and more foreigners. |

I've lived in the area for a year and half now. It's not too bad if you know people nearby. I like going out around Nowon station, Suyu, and Hyewha. Also Sungshin Women's Univ area is cool too. Most of my friends don't live nearby so that kinda sucks but I have made some friends in the area through work and other ways.
The only downside is, like someone already pointed out is that is far from Hongdae, Itaewon and Gangnam. It will cost 20,000W-25,000W to get home by taxi late at night.
There are tons of good places to eat and drink around Changdong Station exit 1. When the weather is nice, the restaurants put out their tables on the little pedestrian street which is cool. Send me a PM if you want more info... |
