They are 5,000won because they are Chinese fakes.

Whats In Counterfeit Cigarettes?
While fake cigarettes do contain tobacco, there are also several other ingredients in there its not uncommon to find sand, plastic and other materials. Thats not good, but its not dangerous in the way other things are. Fake cigarettes have been analysed by laboratories, and its estimated they contain far greater amounts of carbon monoxide, tar, and nicotine (63%, 75%, and 28%, respectively) than those from legitimate manufacturers, which greatly increases the chances of cancer and other diseases for those who smoke them. Suddenly that bargain doesnt seem so good.

How To Avoid Fake Cigarettes
In truth, its probably impossible to completely avoid counterfeit cigarettes. A shop you know might stock them, or the vending machine in a pub you use. You might buy them, never even suspecting theyre anything but legitimate and apart from a different taste, probably never be any the wiser.

But it can be quite easy to avoid some of the more obvious sales approaches. If someone offers you a cut-price carton, just say no.

I purchased my PyeongYang ciggs in PyeongYang, from the Botonggang Hotel.

No they are 5000 won because NK cigarettes are cheap and nasty and priced to their domestic market.

actually they sell for 5,000won per carton in North Korea

During 2005, some person smuggled over heaps and the were selling on the footpath in Seoul for 8,000~10,000won.

They haven't been available in Seoul since 2005.

Hence, why mine costs 40,000won because its a collectible.

More nonsense. They are not, and will never be, worth anything, because they are mass produced, badly. Stop trying to scam people.

Samd - are you foolish writing stuff like this on this site criticising people?

If in 2 weeks when I could be leaving Korea and I sell my 40" 9-month old Samsung PAVV HDD TV's (I have 2) on here for 200,000won or my computers that I would sell super-cheap on here etc etc etc

If you wanted to purchase one - do you think I would allow you to purchase one?

Go ahead, make enemies with people if you enjoy it.

and I stand by what I said -

I'm sure you'll have no trouble selling your TVs for 200,000 won. I wish you all the best with that sale.

You may stand by what you said, and maybe you even believe it, but I bought a carton for 5000won in 2008, and there were plenty more where that came from. That makes me stand by what I said - that your cigarettes are only worth 5000won.
